Garden

We sit in our garden,
pulling the wings
from the flowers.

When we are done,
We stare in silence at the frigid stalks.
You are crying in your patchwork skirt.
All the pollen despairs of love.

I cannot bear this.
Once more, I want to zip myself, dark,
into my worm skin, burrow deep
into the eyeless earth.
